Recently, Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals ("Gan & Lee," stock code: 603087.SH) has achieved another milestone in its international expansion. The company's independently developed insulin glargine injection in both cartridges and prefilled pens has received approval from El Salvador's Superintendencia de Regulación Sanitaria (SRS). This marks another important registration milestone in Central America, following the approvals of the company's insulin glargine products in Honduras. Gan & Lee serves as the marketing authorization holder (MAH) for both products, continuing its strategy of holding marketing authorizations directly in overseas markets, including Honduras and Ethiopia.
Central America is a priority region for chronic disease prevention and management, with persistent gaps in access to diabetes care. According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), approximately 463,300 adults aged 20–79 in El Salvador were living with diabetes in 2024, representing a prevalence of 11.2%. Around 23.2% of people with diabetes remained undiagnosed.1 Gaps in early screening and sustained long-term disease management underscore the need to improve access to medicines and ease the public health burden.
Central America is a key region in Gan & Lee's global strategy and an important base for its expansion into emerging markets across Latin America. In June and July 2026, the company received approvals in Honduras for its insulin glargine injection and insulin glargine prefilled pen, respectively, establishing a complementary product portfolio in that market. The latest approvals in El Salvador further broaden the company's market access and strengthen its regional footprint, reinforcing its international expansion strategy in Latin America's emerging markets.
Looking ahead, Gan & Lee will continue to advance its global strategy through overseas product registrations and market expansion. The company will further diversify its international portfolio and deliver high-quality, cost-effective innovative medicines to patients worldwide, contributing to better chronic disease care globally.
