Delegations from Training Programs for Belt and Road Partner Countries Visited Gan & Lee
Date:2026-07-21

On July 16, 2026, a multinational delegation participating in the Seminar on Building Smart Healthcare Security Systems for Belt and Road Countries and the Seminar on Healthcare Security Policy Capacity Building for Belt and Road Countries paid a visit to Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals (hereinafter referred to as "Gan & Lee"; stock code: 603087.SH).

The delegation consisted of more than 50 government officials in charge of health administration, medical care and other related sectors from multiple Belt and Road partner countries. The visit aimed to provide participants with first-hand insights into a leading Chinese pharmaceutical company and facilitate in-depth exchanges on the practices and experience of Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises in supporting the Belt and Road Initiative and advancing the high-quality development of global healthcare.

On-Site Exchange on Healthcare Security Practices

During the visit, the delegation toured Gan & Lee's R&D center and production workshops, getting an up-close view of the company's accomplishments in biopharmaceutical innovation, mass production and quality control systems.Via on-site briefings and interactive exchanges, delegates gained a more intuitive grasp of the progress of China's biopharmaceutical sector, as well as Gan & Lee's R&D strengths and manufacturing expertise in diabetes therapeutics.

Kai Du, Executive Vice President of Gan & Lee, provided a comprehensive overview of the company's development history, diversified product portfolio and international expansion. He noted that healthcare security systems are a cornerstone of public health and an important link between pharmaceutical innovation and broader access to healthcare. As a leading Chinese company in metabolic disease treatment, Gan & Lee has remained committed to addressing patient needs, advancing product development through technological innovation, ensuring reliable medicine supply through stable manufacturing capacity, and expanding access to healthcare through its global presence. Through these efforts, the company continues to make high-quality medicines more accessible to patients with chronic diseases in China and around the world.

Deepening Belt and Road Cooperation to Advance Global Health

China has continued to improve its healthcare security system through a combination of policies, including dynamic adjustments to the National Reimbursement Drug List and volume-based procurement. These measures have helped bring medicine prices to more reasonable levels and improve access to high-quality treatments, providing valuable experience for Belt and Road partner countries. In areas such as diabetes and other chronic diseases, China's policy experience and industry practices may also offer a useful reference for developing countries facing similarly significant chronic disease burdens.

As a leading Chinese company in metabolic disease treatment, Gan & Lee currently has a number of core products included in China's National Reimbursement Drug List. These include insulin glargine, insulin lispro, insulin aspart and other insulin products, as well as a portfolio of oral antidiabetic medicines, covering the major clinical treatment scenarios for diabetes. Alongside the implementation of volume-based procurement and initiatives to expand access to centrally procured medicines, the company has continued to optimize its manufacturing capacity, strengthen its distribution network and broaden its reach across primary healthcare institutions. By the end of 2025, Gan & Lee's products had reached 48,000 medical institutions across China, helping reduce the financial burden of diabetes treatment and supporting the development of tiered diagnosis and treatment and a more inclusive national healthcare system.

While continuing to support primary healthcare services in China, Gan & Lee has also maintained a global outlook. Leveraging its strong technological innovation and mature industrialization capabilities, the company has actively responded to the Belt and Road Initiative and continued to expand industrial cooperation, academic exchanges and commercial operations across partner countries and regions. To date, Gan & Lee's insulin products have received marketing approvals in 57 countries worldwide, including 23 Belt and Road partner countries.

Looking ahead, Gan & Lee will continue to strengthen its technological and industrial capabilities in metabolic disease treatment and deepen comprehensive cooperation with governments, medical institutions and industry partners across Belt and Road countries. By providing patients with more treatment options, the company aims to leverage its industrial capabilities to advance chronic disease care worldwide, promote greater competition in markets traditionally dominated by originator medicines, and contribute the expertise and strength of Chinese pharmaceutical companies to building a global community of health for all under the Belt and Road Initiative.
