Gan & Lee Attends the Multinational Diabetes Academic Conference 2026
Date:2026-05-29

Recently, the Multinational Diabetes Academic Exchange Conference 2026, hosted by the China Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research Development Association (PhIRDA), successfully convened in Beijing. Under the theme "Shaping GLP-1 RA Ecosystem: Shaping the Future of Diabetes & Obesity Care," the conference brought together authoritative endocrinology experts from nine nations, including China, South Korea, Brazil, and Mexico, to engage in deep discussions on cutting-edge topics in diabetes and obesity diagnosis and treatment.

Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals. (hereinafter referred to as "Gan & Lee", Stock Code: 603087.SH), a leading Chinese biopharmaceutical enterprise, participated in the conference to explore new global pathways for the prevention and control of metabolic diseases alongside international experts.

Addressing Escalating Metabolic Challenges, Driven by Innovation

Currently, the global comorbidity landscape of diabetes combined with obesity is becoming increasingly severe, making the prevention and control of chronic metabolic diseases a core public health agenda for nations worldwide. Powered by multiple benefits—including robust glucose lowering, significant weight loss, and cardiovascular/renal protection—GLP-1 RAs are comprehensively revolutionizing the treatment paradigm for metabolic diseases. Concurrently, insulin therapies continue to iterate toward long-acting convenience, smart delivery, and personalized, precise intervention.

Against this backdrop, the conference gathered international authorities to conduct in-depth exchanges across three core themes: The Global Progress of Treatment in Diabetes, The Comprehensive Management of Diabetes, and The Progress in Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome.

Continuous Breakthroughs to Empower Global Prevention and Control

As the first Chinese company to master the industrialized production of recombinant insulin analogs, Gan & Lee has deeply cultivated the diabetes field for over two decades. Driven by clinical needs, the company has continuously reinforced its product barriers. Gan & Lee has established a high-quality product matrix covering all insulin categories, including long-acting, fast-acting, and premixed insulins to provide stable, safe, and accessible foundational treatment solutions for clinical practice worldwide.

While continuously fortifying its cornerstone insulin business, Gan & Lee has taken a forward-looking approach to expand its R&D pipeline spanning the entire spectrum of metabolic diseases. Precision-targeting core R&D directions such as long-acting formulations, weight management, and cardiorenal protection, the company is prioritizing key proprietary, blockbuster innovative pipeline products developed in-house. These include Bofanglutide (GZR18), a biweekly GLP-1 RA formulation, and GZR4 injection, a weekly basal insulin, thereby continuously refining its holistic metabolic disease management system.

In recent years, the company's two core innovative pipeline candidates have progressed rapidly with remarkable results:

  • Bofanglutide (Biweekly GLP-1 RA): Clinical development is advancing efficiently, with a cumulative total of seven Phase 3 clinical studies initiated. These comprehensively cover core indications such as weight management (obesity or overweight), obesity complicated by obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and type 2 diabetes. This long-acting, highly convenient innovative therapy will further address diverse metabolic disease clinical scenarios.

  • GZR4 (Fourth-Generation Weekly Insulin): R&D has achieved breakthrough milestones. Two pivotal Phase III clinical studies conducted in China, SUPER-1 and SUPER-2, successfully met their predefined primary endpoints. Data demonstrated that after 26 weeks of treatment, compared to once-daily Insulin Glargine U100 and Insulin Degludec, the once-weekly GZR4 demonstrated statistically significant superiority in HbA1c reduction. This promises a more convenient and superior long-acting insulin alternative for diabetes patients.

These innovative R&D directions are highly aligned with the trend of "long-acting and convenient" treatments highlighted at the conference, showcasing the company's continuous exploration and accumulation in cutting-edge therapies.

From ensuring the accessibility of full-category insulins to leading breakthrough R&D in next-generation therapies like weekly insulin and biweekly GLP-1 formulations, Gan & Lee has solidly demonstrated its comprehensive layout and innovative prowess in the field of metabolic diseases.

Looking to the future, Gan & Lee will continue to uphold its core corporate culture of "Science & Excellence." Focusing on unmet clinical needs in metabolic diseases, the company will increase its investment in innovative R&D, deepen global academic cooperation and exchange, and continuously explore new pathways in metabolic disease diagnostics and therapeutics, ultimately contributing to the high-quality development of global disease prevention and control.
