Beijing, China, October 17 — Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals. (hereinafter referred to as Gan & Lee, stock code: 603087.SH) announced that its independently developed and manufactured insulin glargine injection, Basalin™, has officially received marketing approval from the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA). This approval marks the official entry of Gan & Lee's insulin glargine injection into the Egyptian market and represents another major milestone in the company's expansion in North Africa, following the registration approvals of its insulin aspart injection pen and insulin aspart 30 injection pen in Algeria.
The approved insulin glargine injection will enrich local insulin therapy options with its combination of high quality and greater accessibility. As China's first independently developed long-acting insulin analog, Gan & Lee's insulin glargine(Basalin®) has undergone over two decades of clinical validation, establishing a mature and reliable glycemic control solution in China. Its entry into Egypt will not only lower treatment barriers through more competitive pricing but also provide patients with stable, long-term glycemic management, helping to alleviate the public health burden of diabetes in the country.
In addition, during the recent Pharmaconex 2025 exhibition held in Egypt, Gan & Lee reached preliminary cooperation intentions with several pharmaceutical enterprises from the Middle East and Africa. The approval of insulin glargine injection is expected to serve as a key enabler in transforming these strategic intentions into practical collaborations, laying a solid foundation for building a robust regional distribution network.
For Gan & Lee, Egypt represents not just a single market but also a strategic hub connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe—a gateway to broader opportunities across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Looking ahead, the company plans to ensure stable product supply through consistent exports and gradually advance localized operations, building a regional marketing network centered in Egypt to strengthen service capabilities across neighboring markets. Through this Regional Hub with Expanded Outreach to Surrounding Areas” model, Gan & Lee aims to further expand its footprint in the Middle East and Africa, deepen cooperation with Belt and Road partner countries in the field of diabetes prevention and care, and demonstrate the growing international competitiveness and responsibility of Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises.
